Kenilworth MCM Project
This mid-century home was originally constructed in 1959 and while it had amazing architectural features, it had fallen into significant disrepair. It was purchased to remodel and flip, with great care taken to preserve the original architectural details, while still updating the home to fit today’s lifestyle.
The first order of business was to open up the main living area and kitchen to create a large open-concept entertaining space. Then, we enclosed a third of the existing 2 ½ car garage into a new laundry/mudroom and turned the small former laundry closet into a new walk-in pantry.
We doubled the size of the kitchen and removed an awkward window looking into the garage. The entire home was re-wired and two new electrical circuit panels were installed. We replaced all windows and doors with new energy-efficient models and added all new lighting, paint, flooring and completely remodeled bathrooms.
On the exterior, the home’s original stone was power washed and cleaned and we installed new landscaping and a cedar fence. New exterior lighting highlights the mid-century sloped rooflines, and, finally, a custom steel-and-wood pergola mimics the home’s angled roofline and completes the outdoor entertaining area.
